Who is this course for?
This course is perfect for (A) total beginners who have never released a song, performed, and/or been in a recording studio and (B) seasoned musicians who know their way around music studios and recording sessions but still rely on others for production.
What software and equipment do I need?
You’ll need an Apple computer with Logic Pro X installed.
If you don’t have Logic Pro X yet, you can get started using GarageBand.
As for gear, you’ll need a microphone and pop filter (but my song recorded on APPLE EARBUDS got the attention of a Grammy-Hall-of-Fame Producer, so if that’s all you got don’t let it stop you).
Additionally, you’ll need an audio interface to connect your mic and other instruments to your computer. In an ideal world, we’d all have acoustically treated rooms and expensive studio monitors, but I’ll show you how to make informed mixing decisions with just a decent pair of headphones. The key is to start with what you have—don’t wait for perfect gear.
If you do not have an Apple Computer (and therefore no Logic Pro X), these technical principles are essential to building a solid foundation in music production. While my course is structured around Logic, the concepts will benefit you no matter what software you use. Even if you’re using a different DAW, the fundamental concepts I teach in this course, such as gain staging, signal flow, basic signal processing techniques, and more, are universally applicable.
Will there be homework assignments? Will I receive feedback?
Yes! Every step of this course is built around implementation, ensuring that you’re actively applying new techniques to your own music as you go.
